Jacqueline
Jacqueline has been teaching a variety of dance forms for over thirty years and is a Registered Teacher with the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD). She opened her first dance school in 1975 on Vancouver Island where she operated 3 studios in Colwood, Mill Bay and Duncan. During these years Jacqueline prepared students for their R.A.D. examinations with outstanding success. Jacqueline’s Island Dance Schools were known for their creative year end productions; always bringing out the best of every aspiring young dancer.
While on the Island Jacqueline also choreographed as well as participated in many Cowichan Musical Society productions. Jacqueline was an integral part of productions such as The Merry Widow, Oklahoma, My Fair Lady and Showboat. She also performed and choreographed for theatre groups such as ‘Take 10’ Dinner Theatre taking her throughout Vancouver Island and the mainland. As a student and a teacher, she was accepted into the Banff School of Fine Arts and for three consecutive years was contracted by the Alberta Ballet Company to prepare children for their production of the Nutcracker. Although many other professional doors opened for her throughout her dancing career, she always chose the path to teach dance and work with children. For her, the most rewarding aspect of teaching dance is knowing that she played a key role as an influential and inspirational part of hundreds of children’s lives through the art of dance; that affirmation comes back to her over and over again each time she reconnects with past students as they share with her stories of how their dance experiences have touched their lives in so many positive ways. |
